Terms of service

Plain English, kept short on purpose. Last updated 21 October 2026. See also our privacy policy.

What Hourglow is

Hourglow is a sleep and wellbeing app for adults, made in the UK and used in your browser at app.hourglow.co.uk. It offers sleep stories, body scans, breathing, soundscapes and a quiet room for the middle of the night. The narration is AI-generated and produced entirely by us. By using Hourglow you agree to these terms.

Hourglow is not a medical product. It does not give medical advice. If sleep is a serious struggle, your GP is the right first step. If you need someone right now: Samaritans — 116 123, free, any hour · NHS 111 · emergencies 999.

The free tier

The nightly suggestion, the 3am button, morning check-ins and offline listening are free, forever. No account is needed, and we don't run ads or sell data — see the privacy policy.

Hourglow Plus

Your 14-day cooling-off right

Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have the right to cancel a subscription within 14 days of taking it out. Our version is simple: if you're within 14 days of your first payment and you don't want it, email [email protected] and we'll refund that payment in full. No form, no questions. By starting the subscription you agree we may provide the service during the cooling-off period.

Refunds beyond that

If something on our side was genuinely broken during a month you paid for, tell us — we're reasonable, and we'd rather refund a month than argue about one.

Fair use

Hourglow is for your personal, non-commercial listening. Please don't copy, extract, redistribute or resell the audio, text or artwork. The classical pieces behind the 3am button are long out of copyright; every performance is the app's own, and the stories, narration and music belong to Hourglow.

The service

Hourglow runs in your browser, so it depends on your device, your browser and your connection. We work hard to keep it available every night, but we can't promise uninterrupted service, and features may change as the app improves. If we ever retire something you've paid for, we'll say so plainly and put it right.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page with a new date, and by email if you subscribe. Carrying on using Hourglow after that means you accept the new version.

The legal frame

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and nothing in them reduces your statutory rights as a UK consumer. Questions? [email protected] — a person reads it.

Hourglow is a wellbeing app, not a medical product.
