Privacy policy

This page covers the Hourglow website and the Hourglow web app. Last updated 21 October 2026. See also our terms of service.

Who we are

Hourglow is a UK sleep and wellbeing app, live in your browser at app.hourglow.co.uk. For anything on this page, contact [email protected] — a person reads it.

If you just visit — what we count

No analytics scripts, no advertising trackers, no cookies set by us, no fingerprinting. What we do instead: our own server adds one to an anonymous daily number — "the home page was viewed 27 times today", "the Try-free button was tapped 4 times". Numbers only. No IP addresses stored, no identifiers, no way for us to recognise you if you come back tomorrow. We think that's the most counting a sleep company should ever do.

Inside the app — your night stays on your phone

Your morning check-ins, resume points, listening history and settings live in your phone's own browser storage. They are not sent to us. Delete the app's site data and they're gone — we couldn't recover them if you asked, because we never had them.

The unload box (the place you can empty your head at night) is never stored and never sent anywhere — the words vanish when you release them. No one reads them, because they no longer exist.

What we collect, and why

If you join the waitlist: your email address, the phone platform you choose (iPhone/Android, optional), and the time you signed up.

Used for: one launch announcement email when the native apps ship. Nothing else. No marketing sequence, no newsletter, and we never share or sell the list.

Lawful basis: your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time (see "Your rights").

If you subscribe to Hourglow Plus: payment is taken by Stripe, Inc., our payment processor. Stripe receives the details you enter at checkout (card number, name, email) and processes them under its own privacy policy; your card details never touch our servers. We store only your subscription status — whether Plus is on or off.

If you leave a review inside the app: we store the words you type, the rating you pick, and the first name you give (if any). Reviews are read by the founder and are only published if you ticked the box agreeing to that — first name only, never edited. You can ask for a review to be removed at any time via [email protected].

If you email support: we see your email address and whatever you write, and we use them only to reply.

Where it's stored

The small amounts we do hold (waitlist entries, reviews, subscription status) are stored with Cloudflare, Inc., our hosting provider, in their Workers KV storage. Cloudflare operates a global network (including UK and EU data centres) and processes data under its standard data-protection terms. Apart from Stripe for payments, no other company receives anything.

How long we keep it
